Barbados

What an excellent change of climate!

We arrived in Barbados a few days before the ship sails, so we had plenty of time to explore the island. Here are some of the highlights . . . .
Our home-in-Barbados is the Blue Dolphin -- in Dover . . . on the first "terrace" (just above St. Lawrence Gap).

The guys stayed in the Guesthouse:

Paul and Catherine stayed in Apartment #1:

Our explorations took us to . . .

the Garrison and town Cricket Pitch;
the University of the West Indies (UWI), with its great views,

awesome student housing (with those same views!), and the requisite cricket pitch;

the Flower Forest nature Preserve;

beautiful beaches, including Long Beach and Harry Smith Beach (our favorite!);

sugar cane;

sugar factories;

and even an oil field (producing ~1000 barrels per day -- refined in Trinidad and brought back to Barbados for local use.

What else???? How about the "Super Gun" and carbonate/sea level geology? Good stuff. But more about that later. The pre-departure safety video has put me to sleep. More tomorrow.
